Too often our children are sedentary. Average TV viewing today is 45 hours a week. Considering our children are in school…sitting… 7 hours a day, sleeping for at least 7 hours a night, if you do the math…in a 24 hour period they are only moving 3.5 hours per day. And most of that ‘movement’ is from couch to dinner table to sit and eat, walking to and from a class, getting ready for school or bed, walking to and from the car and doing homework where they are sitting yet again. So actually, any real ‘movement’ during our average child’s day is probably limited to an hour. It is no wonder our children are the fattest in the world.

Solving the Problem


Keeping our children active starts at home. Every habit your child has or develops is the result of the lifestyle you live as a family. Everything from food choices and structure of meals to daily activity routines. You as the parent are setting the example and groundwork for habits your child will carry into adulthood. In our busy society, we must start the examples early. Changing a habit once it is formed is far more difficult than bestowing one. I find most parents become frustrated more quickly than the child and ‘give up’ just to keep peace or stop the argument. You actually have to present a new idea, activity and especially a food a minimum of 10 times to a child before it is solidified as a habit. Give them the opportunity and they may surprise you. Patience is a Virtue.

As a child, my struggle with weight was endless. It is even a battle for me today. Over time I learned new habits that I changed slowly and made part of my lifestyle. I know the struggle and other issues that accompany being an overweight child, not to mention the potential health issues. My goal for all children and families is to help them be in their best possible health. To educate and empower the family unit; not just alienate the overweight child. As a parent, you are single most important influence on your children’s lives. Make that influence count.

Fitness Consultation & Program Design

Upon contacting me you will be sent a questionnaire by email to assess your child’s medical history, exercise history, goals, lifestyle, exercise availability, nutrition, and self motivation. This questionnaire should be filled out by your child with your help. If your child is under the care of a physician for any weight related health concern, a ‘Physician’s Clearance’ will be requested to either be sent to me by email or mail. Weight, height, age, resting heart rate and/or Body Composition/BMI will be required for initial consultation or immediately following. The Fitness Consultation is designed to help me understand how your child and his/her lifestyle, in every aspect so the principles of good health can be applied.

12 Week Exercise & Nutrition Program

A 12 week exercise and nutrition tracking program for your child. Great for any fitness level! The goal is to EDUCATE your child and teach the HEALTHY HABITS to attain better health. Weekly emails will be sent with nutrition and exercise assignments. Your child (with your help if necessary) will be responsible for a nutrition and exercise journal which will be emailed to me weekly for evaluation and suggestions. A ‘Healthy Habit Incentive’ contract will be signed by both parent and child. A copy will be kept for your record and a copy sent to me for my records. This contract will state the goal, plan and reward for staying on the plan every week to attain better health.

My goal during the 12 week course is to educate, not punish. Your child will be rewarded for activities and steps that lead toward a healthy lifestyle. All initial numbers will not be re-evaluated until the end of the 12 weeks. We want HEALTHY HABITS to be the focus throughout the 12 weeks; NOT the number on the scale. So weekly weigh ins WILL NOT be part of this program. It is our habits that determine our health. Change those and all good things will come.

12 Week Exercise and Nutrition Program $500 $1500

All exercises are age appropriate! Elementary to high school your child will be stimulated, motivated and educated in the habits towards a healthy lifestyle. Motor skill development, hand eye coordination, fitness level, agility and interest will all improve as we move into a world of activity and good nutrition. Younger children will engage in activities that are safe, fun and fitness based. More ‘active play’ will be used to accomplish a lifestyle of better health. Older children, depending on age and maturity will engage in more cardiovascular and muscle endurance activities. As they progress in age they will be introduced to strength training and aerobic/anaerobic conditioning as a more structured program.

My goal is to establish habits that they will take into adulthood and hopefully one day bestow upon the next generation.
